Acclaimed New York singer-songwriter Dan Reardon is in a Nashville state of mind on new country EP.
A few years ago, singer-songwriter Dan Reardon found himself slipping country cover songs into his set. The earthy and emotive sensibility of the songs’ lyrics appealed to him, the low-register singing suited Dan’s range, and playing this music fulfilled Dan’s lifelong passion for country. After visiting Music City consistently for 6 years, he found his impulses were spot on: He may reside in New York, but his heart is in Nashville. Today, Dan makes his love official with Dan Reardon, an EP of country anthems and sweet, back-porch ballads. (Right Me Up Entertainment, Inc.)
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Nashville soaking up the music and the lifestyle,” Dan shares. “With these songs, I wanted to fuse together my experiences there, my respect for the music, and my own cultural perspective as being from New York.”
The 6-song Dan Reardon EP is chock full of pickup truck-sized hooks, rousing romanticism, and comforting emotionality. The anthemic leadoff single, “Set My World Ablaze,” burns with soaring emotionality. The inspiration comes from a new beginning after Dan recovered from some major health issues while also nursing from heartbreak. “That song is about finding inner happiness and triumphantly moving on from an unhealthy past relationship,” Dan reveals. The track “Higher” is a love letter to the country genre, encapsulating Dan’s appreciation for country which dates back to when he was a kid and first fell under the spell of George Strait, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Alabama. The standout “Backseat Love” is a heartfelt breezy ballad with modern production touches.
Dan Reardon was engineered and mixed by Will Pugh of the certified-Gold pop-punk band Cartel, and mastered by Grammy award-winner Nathan Dantzler (Toby Mac, Britt Nicole). Previously, Dan has collaborated with iconic engineers and producers Michael James (Jane’s Addiction, Chicago, Edwin McCain), and David Donnelly (Aerosmith, Journey, Red Hot Chili Peppers). As a solo artist, he’s released a pop-rock EP, and performed in front of over a million viewers on the Steve Harvey Show. As a member of the pop-rock band Soundside, Dan has issued 5 records, one in Spanish, and played over 400 shows, opening for diversely esteemed artists such as Berlin, Days Of The New, The Tubes, and the New York Dolls.
